OEM delivering excellence in apprenticeship collaboration.

OEM Engineering Apprenticeship delivery teams from Cavan Monaghan ETB and Limerick Clare ETB recently came together for a two-day ‘Excellence in Delivery’ workshop at Monaghan Institute.

The workshop focused on maintaining and enhancing the high standardisation that already exists across both centres in delivery of the programme and served as an opportunity for the instructors and management team to evaluate current practices, collaborate to share resources and skills and to mutually learn about any advances in technology, shifts in industry and upcoming trends which may need to be considered as part of the programme curriculum.

Coming into its sixth year, the programme has developed a strong Community of Practice (CoP) between the education providers and the ever-increasing list of OEM Engineering Apprentice employers, who together support collaboration, innovation and the effectiveness of activities that improve teaching and learning while fostering and building upon stakeholder relationships.

Having a streamlined approach to all elements of the apprenticeship and developing effective teams that share the vision and build collaborative excellence, stimulates productivity and benefits both the student and employer in many ways. Current OEM Engineering Apprenticeship employers are reaping the many benefits of such strong collaboration in areas such as knowledge and skill development, identification and use of best practices, effective detection and response to potential issues and futureproofing strategies, all of which will ultimately lead to highly trained individuals and workforces.

These workshops are also an excellent opportunity for the instructor to show their confidence, enthusiasm and passion in the delivery of a particular subject area, along with demonstrating specific tools, resources, and equipment for use in the classroom and the workplace. The activities over the two days demonstrated that delivery and assessment are consistent across the two centres and strongly meet all internal quality assurance standards.

Well done to all who took part.
