Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail ‘Try A Trade’ event took place from February 26th – 29th

The Iarnród Éireann / Irish Rail ‘Try A Trade’ event took place from February 26th – 29th at their Apprentice Training Centre at the Inchicore Railway Works.

Over the four days students had the opportunity to try trades in areas such as:

OEM Engineering Technician

• Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

• Electrical

• Fitter

Programme Manager for the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship AnnaMarie Woods said,

“This is a great event for students and schools to come along and gain hands on experience of a variety of trades and skills in a fun and interactive way. Students can try trades in areas like Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Electrical, Fitter and of course the OEM Engineering Technician”.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Conor Doolan, Apprentice Development Executive with Irish Rail said “922 students attended over the four days which is a fantastic number, and the feedback has been extremely  positive, there is a continuous growing interest and participation from students eager to find their future skill with events like this shaping career choices for the future”.
