Celebrating Innovation: OEM Engineering Apprenticeship Employer Information Event Marks Ireland’s First National Manufacturing Day

On Friday, 3 October 2025, the CMETB Milltown Campus in Monaghan proudly hosted an Employer Information Event to mark Ireland’s inaugural National Manufacturing Day, an initiative led by Ibec to spotlight the innovation, skills, and opportunities driving the country’s dynamic manufacturing sector.

Despite the challenging weather brought by Storm Amy, the event saw an impressive turnout from employers across the region, alongside esteemed guests from Ibec and OEM Engineering partner companies, Combilift, Moffett Automation, Dawn Farms and Irish Rail.

Held at the newly opened Milltown Campus, the event provided a vibrant platform for industry leaders, educators, and apprentices to connect, share insights, and celebrate the vital role manufacturing plays in Ireland’s economy and future.

The event gave employers the opportunity to explore the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship programme, engage with apprentices, and witness firsthand the skills being developed for the future of Ireland’s engineering and manufacturing industries.

Opening the event, Shane Beirne, Senior Executive, Engineering Industries Ireland, said “We are delighted to welcome everyone here today, it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the strength and potential of the manufacturing sector, and to foster meaningful conversations about its future.  National Manufacturing Day is set to become a cornerstone in Ireland’s industrial calendar, highlighting the sector’s contributions and inspiring the next generation of innovators and makers”

Also speaking at the event, Programme Manager for the apprenticeship programme remarked, “Monaghan and the wider region have long played a vital role in Ireland’s manufacturing success. The dedication and energy shown by local companies reflect the resilience and collaborative spirit that continue to drive this industry forward.”
