A proud day for the OEM Apprenticeship team as the third-year cohort complete their final off-the-job block at Monaghan Institute.

The third-year class began their apprenticeship journey back in October 2019, which consisted of both on-the-job (Employer) and off-the-job (College) blocks. This was their third and final 16 week off-the-job block at Monaghan Institute. The apprentices now return to their respective employers, namely Combilift, Dennison, Keenan Alltech, L3 Harris and Tanco, to complete the final phase of their apprenticeship and will be due to graduate later this year.

Speaking to the class on Friday, Tom Corrigan MSc FIMI MRAeS, Subject Matter Expert with the OEM programme, shared his own apprenticeship experience, firstly with ESB Networks and later with Aer Lingus, telling of the many twists and turns his career has taken over the years to bring him to where he is today. Tom added that this apprenticeship programme was undoubtedly just the beginning of a lifelong learning journey for the group and he had no doubt that he was in the presence of many future industry leaders and managers.

AnnaMarie Woods, Programme Manager for the OEM Apprenticeship wished the class all the best as they enter the last phase of their apprenticeship with their employers, saying that it has been a delight watching the class grow, not only in terms of the knowledge, technical and academic skills they have acquired but also in confidence, maturity and the many great friendships they have developed over the three years.

Also addressing the group on Friday, Coordinating Tutor for the OEM Apprenticeship, Stephen Carron, who has been with the group from the beginning, said the class had become like a second family to him. In reiteration of Tom’s previous words, Stephen emphasised that there was no limit to what this dynamic class could accomplish in their future careers and he would look forward to seeing what direction their career paths would take. Stephen ended by encouraging the group to embrace every opportunity that comes their way but most importantly to look after both their physical health and well-being in the months and years ahead.

The OEM Apprenticeship team at Monaghan Institute wish the third-year group all the best and look forward to welcoming them all back for graduation later in the year.
